Naturopathic Medicine

WHAT IS IT?

Naturopathic medicine is a kind of medicine designed to treat the underlying cause of disease or illness by supporting the natural healing processes of the body, often through the removal of any obstacles to these processes.  It is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of physical, mental, and emotional conditions using therapeutics that support or enhance a patient’s overall health.

WHAT TYPES OF TREATMENTS ARE PROVIDED?

Dr. Sara Kinnon, your naturopathic physician at Lifestyle Health Centre, promotes optimal health and well-being through three avenues:

Preventive Medicine
This is a comprehensive evaluation of a patient’s history and health risks, including diet, exercise, and stress and then prescription of the appropriate action combined with complementary medicine and therapies.

Nutritional Medicine
After assessing a patient’s condition, Dr. Sara may offer certain dietary suggestions and nutritional advice and supplements to heal the body.

Botanical Medicine
As a professionally trained herbalist, naturopathic physicians know the historical uses of plants as well as modern pharmacological mechanisms.  Dr. Sara may prescribe herbal medicine to supplement dietary advice and heal certain conditions.
